Design's Balance
Fundamentally, design is a reflection of life. Too much chaos creates instability, too much simplicity can lead to disinterest, lack of character, and too much structure can prevent innovation.
Balance is what unites scattered ideas into coherent expressions. It elevates function to art, and gives design a deeper sense of meaning. The essence of what makes design not just successful but also meaningful may be found in the balance of structure, simplicity, and chaos. Hence, this such ideology resonates with Equilibrium.
Three articles were used to capture design as equilibrium on this website. “The Modernist Grid” explores grids that provide order and clarity. “Towards a complex simplicity” shows simplicity that refines complexity without losing depth and meaning. Finally, “The cult of ugly” defines ugly as perspectives that challenges norms to spark creativity. All three, goes into the core of what makes design resonate.
Equilibrium, this website showcases how harmony can emerge from tension and how balance is key to creating designs that are both functional and expressive.
